Opening ceremony of the 7th International Conference on Energy, Environment and Sustainable Development held at Mehran University

 Wednesday, February 19, 2025 Hyderabad (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th February, 2025) The opening ceremony of the 7th International Conference on Energy, Environment and Sustainable Development organized by Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro, was held. Addressing the opening ceremony, Energy Sector Expert Engineer Irfan Ahmed said that an environmentally friendly energy transition is taking place, electricity is being generated from wind and solar energy, there are many wind power generation projects in Sindh and wind power is also cheap. British High Commissioner meeting with Chairman Red Crescent

 The challenges faced due to climate change and solutions to public health problems were discussed


qIslamabad (News International Newspaper Latest - Online. 08 November 2024) Pakistan Red Crescent Chairman Sardar Shahid Ahmad Leghari met with British High Commissioner Jane Marriott, to increase cooperation to serve humanity, challenges faced by Pakistan due to climate change and public health. In this meeting Secretary General Hilal Ahmar Obaidullah Khan and other officers were also present.

Sardar Shahid Ahmad Laghari informed about the damages caused to Pakistan due to climate change and the measures taken by Pakistan Red Crescent. He said that we are taking all possible steps to adapt to climate change. Sardar Shahid Ahmad Laghari praised Britain for helping Pakistan in every difficult time.


He appreciated the long-term British support for the rehabilitation and livelihood of disaster-affected households across Pakistan.


British High Commissioner Jane Marriott appreciated the humanitarian services of Pakistan Red Crescent under the visionary leadership of Sardar Shahid Ahmad Laghari. He expressed the fact that Pakistan is at the seventh position among the countries affected by climate change. He described the steps taken by the Red Crescent for the future, including the establishment of the Climate Change Unit and the Green Office, as valuable.

He also appreciated Sardar Shahid Ahmad Laghari for bringing innovation in the institution and expanding the scope of service to humanity. Jean-Mariet also praised the Red Crescent's strategy and initiatives to combat the effects of climate change. The two leaders agreed on cooperation between the British Red Cross and Pakistan Red Crescent in migration and displacement, cash and voucher assistance, pre-disaster preparedness and risk reduction projects.

Sardar Shahid Ahmad Laghari also informed about Pakistan Red Crescent Society for Climate Research Centre, Forest Promotion and Waste Management. Sardar Shahid Ahmad Laghari also invited British High Commissioner Jane Marriott to visit Pakistan Red Crescent during the forest. On this occasion, Jean-Mariet was presented with a commemorative shield of Red Crescent, Pakistan Red Crescent magazine based on practical measures for the welfare of humanity and "Dastan-e-Azam" as well.
