Later, Louise Hague found the same mobile phone in her handbag but did not report it to the police. After this fact came to light, a case was also filed against her in 2014 on charges of fraud.

In her resignation, Hague, then 37, wrote that she was resigning as Transport Minister so that the attention of the country's government would not be diverted from its work.
