The World Health Organization has expressed concern over the rise in attacks on computer networks for ransom against hospitals

The number and intensity of these attacks on the health sector has increased. Cybercrime, including ransomware, is a major threat to global security. Chief WHO

New York (INP) 50 countries, including the United Nations Health Organization, have warned of an increase in ransomware attacks on hospitals against computer networks, but the United States has blamed Russia for it. According to the broadcaster, ransomware is a form of digital blackmail where hackers encrypt the data of a person, company or organization, i.e. it is converted into a specific code and the data is stored until the ransom is paid. Not restored to original form.

The head of the United Nations Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, called the attacks on hospitals a matter of life and death at the Security Council meeting, calling for international partnership to combat the problem. He said that the survey has revealed that the intensity and number of these attacks on the health sector have increased. Cybercrime, including ransomware, is a huge threat to global security.

More than 50 countries, including South Korea, Ukraine, Japan, Argentina, France, Germany and the United Kingdom, signed the ongoing joint declaration on ransomware at the Security Council meeting. There are direct threats to health services and human lives are being put at risk due to delays in providing health services, economic losses and international peace and security may also be a threat.

The statement also criticized countries that knowingly allow those involved in ransomware attacks to continue their operations. Ware's characters are allowed to operate from their territory with immunity. France and South Korea also criticized North Korea in this regard. On this occasion, Russia said in its defense that the Security Council is not the appropriate forum to raise the issue of cybercrime. The meeting can hardly be considered as a proper use of the Council's time and resources.

He said that if our Western partners want to discuss the protection of health facilities, they should agree on these few measures in the Security Council to stop the terrible attacks of Israel on the hospitals in the Gaza Strip.
