Ukraine War: US Missile Strikes Allowed Inside Russia

 Monday 18 November 2024

Islamabad (News International. DW News. November 18, 2024) According to American media reports, President Joe Biden is now using long-range missiles provided by the United States to Ukraine to attack remote targets inside Russia. The use of missiles has been approved.

This is a major shift in US policy toward Ukraine at a time when attacks on both sides are intensifying.

A US official confirmed this in a media interview, but the White House has yet to publicly comment on the matter.

Russia's massive missile and drone strikes against Ukraine

The long-range US-made ATACMS missiles, which the US has supplied to Ukraine, were banned from using them to attack inside Russia.

It should be noted that Ukraine's allies had prevented Kiev from deploying its weapons far from the battlefront.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has been insisting for the past several months that the ban on ATACMS missiles should be lifted and that they should be allowed to launch cross-border strikes.

Ukraine: Air strike alert continues across the country

On Sunday, Zielinski reacted to the reports, saying, "Such things are not announced and the missiles speak for themselves.

"

It should be noted that earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned Western countries against such a move, saying that such a move would be tantamount to the direct participation of the NATO military alliance in the war in Ukraine.

He has not yet commented on Sunday's reports, although other senior Kremlin politicians described it as a serious escalation in the war.

Trump started efforts to end the war in Ukraine and Gaza?

Ukrainian forces are now ready to use US-made ATACMS rockets, which have a range of up to 306 km, against Russian targets, the sources said.

This latest development comes at a time when Donald Trump is going to replace Joe Biden as the US President. Trump has claimed he will end the war in Ukraine before taking office in early January.

Exiled Russian opposition protests in Berlin

More than 1,000 protesters from Russia's exiled opposition marched in the German capital Berlin on Sunday, calling for an end to the war in Ukraine and the removal of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

During the anti-war march, protesters carried a large red banner, which read in English: "No Putin, No War."

Many protesters carried placards with slogans such as "Victory to Ukraine", "Fall of Putin" and "Liberation of Russia".

Three prominent figures from exiled Russian opposition leaders led the march, including Alexei Navalny's widow, Yulia Navalnaya, and Vladimir Kara-Mirza and Ilya Yashin. The two were released on August 1 in a prisoner swap between Russia and the US and its allies.
