Srinagar (News International / Pakistan Point News - 11th December, 2024) In illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, senior leader of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has demanded the immediate release of all Kashmiri leaders, activists, lawyers, journalists and human rights activists illegally detained in the occupied territory and Indian jails.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Mirwaiz, in a statement on X, reiterated his demand for the release of thousands of detained Kashmiris and stressed their fair trial and access to legal process. He condemned the dismissal of government employees in occupied Jammu and Kashmir and said that India is maintaining its dominance over Jammu and Kashmir based on fear, terror and oppressive tactics.
All Parties Hurriyat Conference spokesperson Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, in a statement in Srinagar, expressed deep concern over the rapidly deteriorating human rights situation and the rise in state terrorism in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, saying that India has taken away all the fundamental rights of Kashmiris. The spokesperson said that Indian forces have intensified the atrocities on unarmed civilians in the area.
The All Parties Hurriyat Conference spokesperson appealed to the international community to take notice of the ongoing Indian oppression and tyranny in the occupied territory and play its role in resolving the Kashmir dispute. Eminent Indian journalist Prem Shankar Jha has said in a recent article that the efforts of the Narendra Modi-led Indian government to get the death penalty for Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik in a 34-year-old case have raised several legal questions.
He said that this is a controversial case because there is no solid evidence in it. Prem Shankar Jha warned that the execution of Yasin Malik would further alienate Kashmiris from India, increase instability in Jammu and Kashmir and strengthen Pakistan’s narrative on Kashmir. The World Kashmir Awareness Forum drove digital trucks in New York to highlight the ongoing human rights violations by India in occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The digital screens on these trucks, which passed through important places including the UN Headquarters and Times Square, displayed messages like “Indian atrocities in Kashmir are on the rise, the world should raise its voice for Kashmiris, Kashmiris have rejected Indian occupation and the UN resolution is the only solution to the Kashmir dispute.”
