Lahore (News International Latest News - December 14, 2024) National team white-ball captain Muhammad Rizwan has become the Pakistani batsman with the worst strike rate in the powerplay in T20 cricket.
32-year-old Muhammad Rizwan scored 11 runs off 13 balls in the second T20 against South Africa. Muhammad Rizwan has now become the Pakistani batsman with the worst strike rate among batsmen who have scored at least 1000 runs in T20 cricket.
Bangladesh's Tamim Iqbal is first with a strike rate of just 110.10, Muhammad Rizwan is second with a strike rate of 116.53, Babar Azam is third with 118 runs, while Ireland's Andy Balbriggan is fourth with a strike rate of 118.31.
It should be noted that earlier, Mohammad Rizwan became the Pakistani captain to score the slowest fifty in the shortest format of the game for Pakistan in the first T20I.
Mohammad Rizwan's innings of 74 runs off 62 balls against South Africa could not even lead Pakistan to victory. Rizwan demonstrated extremely slow batting and completed his half-century in 50 balls, which was the slowest T20 fifty by any Pakistani captain. Earlier, Babar Azam completed his half-century in 49 balls as captain in 2021.
The record for the slowest half-century from Pakistan is held by Shoaib Junior, who scored a half-century in 53 balls against Zimbabwe in 2008. Mohammad Rizwan scored a half-century in 52 balls against Canada in the T20 World Cup 2024 and scored a fifty in 48 balls against Zimbabwe in 2021.
