Islamabad (UrduPoint News International/ Pakistan Point News - NNI. 26 December 2024) Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch has said that Pakistan is keen to increase cooperation with Afghanistan in security, trade and other sectors. The operation in the border area is aimed at protecting Pakistani citizens from TTP and other terrorists. 2024 was a busy year for Pakistan's diplomacy. It is in talks with other countries besides the European Union to lift the ban on PIA flights. It seeks positive relations with the United States based on mutual respect and interests. We have always focused on dialogue and diplomacy. Talks are underway for the return of Pakistani Muhammad Fahad, who is stranded in India.
During the weekly media briefing on Thursday, Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said that Afghanistan is in touch with the authorities and wants to increase cooperation with Afghanistan in security, trade and other sectors.
Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said that 2024 was an active year for Pakistan's diplomacy. Good understanding was established with Belarus, China, Azerbaijan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Britain and other countries. The Foreign Minister visited Belgium, Egypt, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Britain and other countries. The Prime Minister and the President also visited different countries in 2024.
The Foreign Office spokesperson said that delegations from Malaysia, Russia, Saudi Arabia and other countries came to Pakistan in Pakistan. This year, various changes took place in the region and around the world. Despite the changes, we have built good relations with different countries in view of mutual interests, and we are continuing our engagement with the United States. The spokesperson said that we continue to cooperate with our partners in Europe. The European Union has lifted the ban on PIA. Pakistan is also in talks with other countries besides the European Union to lift the ban on PIA flights.
He said that the year 2024 began with military attacks with Iran, there was an engagement between the two countries in April, there were problems on the border with Afghanistan, we remain in touch with the Afghan authorities, we want to increase cooperation with Afghanistan in security, trade and other areas. Refusing to discuss Richard Grenell’s comments on Pakistani nuclear assets and the release of Imran Khan, the Foreign Office spokesperson said that he cannot comment on anyone’s statement made in an individual capacity.
He said that Pakistan wants positive relations with the United States based on mutual respect and interests, we hope that the Americans will also take care of this, we will continue to talk to the American authorities. Talking to the question about the air strikes in Afghanistan, the Foreign Office spokesperson said that the purpose of the operation in the border area is to protect Pakistani citizens from TTP and other terrorists, this operation is carried out on intelligence grounds.
The spokesperson said that Pakistan has been in touch with Afghanistan for the past few days. Special Representative for Afghanistan Sadiq Khan is currently in Kabul. Sadiq Khan has met with the Afghan Interior Minister, Foreign Minister, Deputy Prime Minister and others. In these meetings, security situation, border management and trade were discussed. The Foreign Office spokesperson said that Pakistan respects Afghanistan’s sovereignty, we have always focused on dialogue and diplomacy. He said that Pakistani security officials conduct operations in border areas to protect the Pakistani people. These operations are carried out on the basis of credible information. In response to a question, he said that talks are being held with India for the return of Pakistani Muhammad Fahad, who is stranded in India. The Pakistan High Commission in Delhi is in touch with Indian authorities.
