Islamabad (UrduPoint News international - 23 December 2024) In talks with the government, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has presented initial demands for the release of all prisoners including Imran Khan and the formation of a judicial commission on the May 9 and November 26 D-Chowk firing. Speaking to the media after the talks between the government and the opposition ended, PTI leader Asad Qaiser said that the government has accepted the demand to meet with PTI founder Imran Khan.
We have presented our position fully in the meeting, we have demanded the release of all prisoners including Imran Khan and the formation of a judicial commission. We will present a charter of demands on January 2. He said that our regular talks will take place from January 2.
This was our initial meeting. We also talked about the workers imprisoned in jails in today's meeting.
Apart from this, we have demanded the release of all other political prisoners. Speaking on this occasion, opposition leader Sahibzada Hamid Raza, who is a member of the negotiation committee, said that we are not making any demand that is beyond the constitution, we are not asking for any relief, but we want fact and finding. The government has all the powers to fulfill our demands.
We have also put the demand for the formation of a judicial commission before the committee. The release of political prisoners is unacceptable without the founding PTI. He said that we want fact finding on May 9 and November 26. Apart from this, we talk about the release of political prisoners. On this occasion, the journalist asked whether all your demands will be accepted? On this, he said that it has just begun, how can I tell you the end?
It should be remembered that the first round of talks between the government and the opposition had ended earlier. The government and opposition negotiation committees had agreed to continue the talks in the future. The next meeting of the negotiation committee will be on January 2. The government had asked the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf to present a charter of demands in the next session. Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq said that we have adopted a democratic approach. We will hold future meetings with consultation. We pray to Allah that what is best for Pakistan, democracy and us will be the result.
