Shahbaz Sharif forms committee for talks with PTI

Islamabad (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - DW Urdu - 22nd December 2024) Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan had earlier said that the government is forming a negotiation committee after the intervention of Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq. He also said that negotiations are the only way forward for the government and the opposition.

What can the PTI gain from talks with the government?


Pakistani National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq on Wednesday, December 18, offered to facilitate the talks, saying that his office and residence were open 24 hours for this purpose.


According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister's House, the committee includes Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, the Prime Minister's Political Assistant Rana Sanaullah and Senator Irfan Siddiqui.


According to Pakistani media, the committee includes PPP’s Raja Pervez Ashraf and Naveed Qamar, MQM Pakistan leader Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Federal Minister for Privatization Aleem Khan, Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Chaudhry Salik Hussain and Sardar Khalid Magsi.


The statement said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif formed the negotiation committee after accepting the recommendations of Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq.


Formation of government negotiation committee is welcome, Barrister Gohar

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan while talking to reporters said that the decision to form a government negotiation committee is welcome.


The committee formed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf for negotiations includes Omar Ayub, Asad Qaiser, Salman Akram Raja, Ali Amin Gandapur and Sahibzada Hamid Raza.


Speaker National Assembly welcomes

Speaker National Assembly Sadiq welcomed the newly formed committee and said that the only way forward is through dialogue and dialogue alone.


According to a statement issued by the National Assembly Secretariat, he invited the government and the opposition to hold talks in good faith, saying that the Speaker’s office is always open for members.


Ayaz Sadiq invited members of both committees to meet at 11:30 am tomorrow, saying that he would meet them in his chamber at Parliament House.
