 Emirati authorities warn illegal residents

Monday, December 30, 2024

Dubai (UrduPoint News International/ Pakistan Point News - 30th December 2024) The United Arab Emirates has decided to conduct strict inspections after the end of the visa amnesty scheme. In this regard, Emirati authorities have warned illegal residents that strict action will be taken when the amnesty ends. According to Khaleej Times, Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA), urged illegal residents to take advantage of the amnesty scheme before it ends on December 31, 2024, as the amnesty period is about to end. Overstayers who have not yet legalized their status should use the remaining time of this grace period to take advantage of it.

Assistant Director General of the Department for Foreigners Affairs, Major General Salah Al-Qamzi, highlighted that the inspection campaign will be intensified in the coming phase, and strict measures will be taken against those who fail to take advantage of this opportunity and other violators. We are committed to implementing the laws with complete transparency and fairness. Our efforts to enhance community security will continue through accelerated inspection campaigns, which will begin immediately after the end of the grace period.

Al-Marri called for widespread community support to spread awareness about the amnesty program. On this occasion, he mentioned the humane side of the amnesty and shared stories of families and children who have benefited from the initiative. He said that everyone is happy with the amnesty, that the process went smoothly and many illegal residents took the initiative seriously and benefited from it. Many of those who took advantage of the amnesty have secured new jobs and are now doing well in life.

Al Marri said that we connected people without passports to their respective embassies and they went home happily. We saw children who did not know their fathers and were cared for by their mothers. These children did not have visas to get vaccinated, but Dubai Health provided them with vaccines because it was our duty to take care of them. I am really proud of the team that helped people return home. It is our duty to make the lives of others easier. Those who do not benefit from this amnesty will blame themselves in the future. There are less than 15 days left for this scheme to end. Come and regularize your status, get rid of fines and start a new life.
