The Speaker of the National Assembly has summoned a meeting of the government and PTI negotiation committee on January 2.

 According to the notification, the meeting will be held at 11:30 am in the Constitution Room of the National Assembly, for which notices have been issued to the members of the negotiation committee. Sardar Ayaz Sadiq will preside.

Islamabad (UrduPoint News - 31 December 2024) Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has summoned a meeting of the government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf negotiation committee on January 2. According to the notification issued, the meeting will be held on January 2 at 11:30 am. Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq has summoned a meeting of the government and opposition negotiation committees in the Constitution Room of Parliament, for which notices have been issued to the negotiation committee members.


The meeting of the negotiation committee will be chaired by Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq. In the meeting of the negotiation committee, the PTI negotiation committee will give a list of its demands to the government committee. It has also been informed that the PTI has given a written form to the demands to be presented in the negotiations with the ruling party.


The meeting of the government and PTI negotiation committees will be in-camera.


The government committee included Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Senator Irfan Siddiqui, Rana Sanaullah, Naveed Qamar, Raja Pervez Ashraf and Farooq Sattar, and the PTI included Asad Qaiser, Omar Ayub, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, Hamid Khan, Sahibzada Hamid Raza and Allama Raja Nasir Abbas. Later, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also included Ijazul Haq and Khalid Magsi in the committee formed for negotiations with the PTI.

It should be noted that the first round of negotiations between the government and the opposition was held earlier and a charter of demands was sought from the opposition in the next meeting. The negotiation committee had agreed to continue the negotiations in the future. The next meeting of the negotiation committees was called on January 2. The first in-camera meeting of the negotiation committee, chaired by Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, began with prayers for the success of the negotiations.

The government and opposition members had arrived at Committee Room 5 for the talks. Seven members of the government and three members of the PTI attended the meeting of the negotiating committee. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Irfan Siddiqui, Rana Sanaullah, Naveed Qamar, Raja Pervez Ashraf and Farooq Sattar participated in the talks on behalf of the government alliance. Chaudhry Salik Hussain was unable to attend, while the opposition was represented by Asad Qaiser, along with Hamid Raza and Allama Nasir Abbas, who were part of the negotiating committee.

Opposition members Omar Ayub, Ali Amin Gandapur, Hamid Khan and Salman Akram Raja did not attend the meeting. Addressing the meeting, Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq welcomed the members of the government and opposition negotiating committee for attending the meeting. He said that the process of talks between the government and the opposition was a good omen. The economic development of the country was linked to political stability.

The current situation of the country required promoting political harmony. This country is ours and the people elected us and sent us to solve their problems. Parliament is an elected body of 240 million people and the people had high hopes from Parliament. As public representatives, we were supposed to find solutions to the problems of the people. With cordial relations between the government and the opposition, the problems of the country could be resolved amicably.
