Lahore (News International / Pakistan Point News - NNI. January 17, 2025) Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan has termed the 190 million pound case as an open-and-shut case, saying that the crime in this case was clear, and the punishment seemed to be written on the wall. The British crime agency NCA stopped a controversial transaction, and Pakistan’s right to it was recognized, however, the then government sent its advisor Shahzad Akbar to Britain, where they held various meetings, after which this money should have gone to the state’s account, but it did not reach there.

During the press conference, Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan further said that if the government took this money, it was legally correct because the state has the right to any controversial amount, but the real problem was the misuse of these funds.

Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan, describing the Al-Qadir Trust case as a major crime in the country’s history, said that the land was given as a gift to the Al-Qadir Trust, which is a worst example.

The money in this project was siphoned off and corruption was committed within the government. He said that the cabinet was used to get the money back and in this process, huge gifts were received, the land of the Al-Qadir Trust was taken, Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan said that building a university is not a crime, but accepting gifts for personal gain and selling off a part of the land is not a crime. Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan took a strong stand on the events of May 9 and said that on that day an angry mob burned a mosque, attacked military cantonments and burnt the records of the Mianwali Criminal Court. He further said that the mob desecrated military uniforms and medals. He said that burning someone’s house cannot be anyone’s political right nor can attacks on the army be considered a part of politics in any way. He further said that the attacks on the roads of Rawalpindi and Lahore were part of a systematic plan and their leaders, who are claiming to be innocent, have been involved in crimes.

Stressing the need to keep the state and politics separate, Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan said that the decisions should not affect the negotiations and it is necessary to differentiate between politics and crime. Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan completely rejected the possibility of any political deal and said that I have never made anyone a deal, if there is any request or argument, then bring it forward. Regarding the no-confidence motion, he said that when the party people start understanding that if they go to the constituency, the people will kick their shoes, then this is their real failure.

Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan said that instead of linking politics with personal interests, the focus should be on the development of the country and all political parties should strengthen democratic traditions instead of targeting state institutions.
