Anti-Terrorism Court Islamabad orders release of 40 more PTI workers in connection with November 26 protest

Islamabad (UrduPoint News International- 04 January 2025) Dozens of arrested PTI workers granted bail, ordered to be released. According to details, on Saturday, the Anti-Terrorism Court Islamabad granted bail to 40 more PTI workers in connection with the November 26 protest. The court ordered the release of 40 more arrested PTI workers.
Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Abu Al-Hasanat Muhammad Zulqarnain granted the bails, and a written decision on the bails granted by the court yesterday was issued. The court granted bails in exchange for bonds of five thousand rupees each. Earlier, hundreds of PTI workers were ordered to be released yesterday.
On Friday, the Anti-Terrorism Court granted bail to 250 PTI workers in 13 cases registered on the November 26 protest, while rejecting the bail applications of 150 accused.
The Islamabad Anti-Terrorism Court heard the cases registered on November 26 protest. The court granted bail to 250 accused on bonds of Rs. 5,000 each and ordered their release. In the Bani Gala case, 18 accused were granted bail after arrest, in Kohsar case number 1032, 43 accused were granted bail, while one accused’s application was rejected.
The court granted bail to 9 accused in the Shahzad Town case, 17 accused in the Noon case and ordered their release, while one accused’s application was rejected. In Aabpara case number 1022, 70 accused were granted bail, while 25 accused’s applications were rejected. The Anti-Terrorism Court granted bail to 30 accused in the I-9 case and 13 accused in the Margalla case and ordered their release, while the bail applications of 2 accused were rejected.
In 2 cases of Secretariat Police Station, the bails of 120 accused were rejected while 10 accused were granted bail, 25 accused of Sihala Police Station and 30 accused of Shams Colony Police Station were granted bail, 13 cases are registered against the accused in 10 police stations. It should be noted here that earlier on May 9, pardon was announced for 19 criminals involved in the case. The criminals filed mercy and pardon petitions using their legal rights. A total of 67 criminals had filed mercy petitions. According to the Pakistan Army spokesperson, 48 petitions were sent to the Courts of Appeal for review for legal action. The petitions of 19 criminals were approved on purely humanitarian grounds in accordance with the law.
