Rawalpindi (News International- 17 January 2025) After being sentenced in a reference of 190 million pounds, PTI founder Imran Khan was declared a prisoner and allotted a prisoner number. Bushra Bibi will be transferred to the women's barracks. Bushra Bibi, who was arrested from the courtroom, was medically examined by the doctors of the jail hospital, after which her biometrics will also be done. Jail sources say that after completing all the legal requirements in the jail, Bushra Bibi, the wife of the founder of PTI, will be transferred to the women's barracks.
Bushra Bibi's essential belongings have been delivered to Adiala Jail. A vehicle loaded with belongings has reached Adiala Jail. According to sources, the cell of Bushra Bibi, the wife of PTI founder Imran Khan, was already prepared in Adiala Jail.
On the other hand, a warrant for the execution of Bushra Bibi’s sentence, which was convicted in the 190 million pounds case, was sent to the jail administration.
The accountability court has written in its decision that PTI founder Imran Khan was found involved in corruption and corrupt practices and his wife Bushra Bibi assisted him. Judge Nasir Javed Rana has written in his detailed judgment that Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi were sentenced under Section 10A of the NAB Act. The court also said in the decision that the charge of aiding and abetting the crime against Bushra Bibi is proven.
Bushra Bibi is sentenced to 7 years of rigorous imprisonment under NAB Ordinance 10A. Bushra Bibi was also sentenced to a fine of Rs 500,000, and in case of failure to pay the fine, she will be imprisoned for another 3 months. According to the court decision, Al-Qadir Trust University is confiscated by the government. Al-Qadir University is being handed over to the federal government. The court wrote in the verdict that if convicted, he will be sentenced to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1 million, while in case of non-payment of the fine, the PTI founder will have to serve another 6 months in prison.
The accountability court wrote in the verdict that in the 190 million pounds reference, the defense lawyers could not refute the prosecution's testimonies. The prosecution's case was based on documentary evidence that was proven correct. The prosecution presented solid, authentic, coherent, undeniable, reliable, and dependable testimony. According to the verdict, even the lengthy cross-examination of several witnesses, including the investigation officer, could not shake them.
Their testimonies were consistent and coherent. There may be minor contradictions, which is natural in white-collar crime. Despite ample opportunities, the prosecution could not refute the position of the prosecution. The court further wrote in the verdict that the documentary evidence presented in the defense of the accused was also worthless. The legal references presented by the defense lawyers were also irrelevant to the facts of the case. In light of the evidence, the acquittal applications of the PTI founder and Bushra Bibi are also rejected.
