Islamabad (News/ Pakistan Point News - 27th January, 2025) Pakistan’s Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi described his meetings with members of the US Congress as positive while talking to the media in the US city of Houston. However, he said that members of the US House of Representatives are being ‘incited against Pakistan’.
According to the Associated Press of Pakistan, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi is currently on a visit to the US, where he attended various events and held important meetings.
Talking about his talks in the US, the Pakistani Interior Minister said on Sunday, “A lot of dirt was being spread here about Pakistan and its government, which was very important to clean up.

Under Trump, relations with the US will deepen further, Pakistan
Naqvi further said, “Here, members of Congress and senators are being poisoned against Pakistan, which I would call hostility towards the country.
You have the right to do politics, but don’t go to the extent that it harms Pakistan.”
It should be noted that US lawmakers and human rights activists had recently urged the new Congress to take a strong stand against the trial of civilians in military courts in Pakistan and to advocate for the withdrawal of anti-democratic measures targeting the country’s opposition party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
It was against the backdrop of these activities that Mohsin Naqvi made this statement.
Pakistan has never been a tactical ally of the US, the White House
In response to a question about the apparent increase in terrorist acts in Pakistan last year, the Pakistani Interior Minister said that the main purpose of his US visit was to develop an effective strategy against terrorism in cooperation with American politicians.
“Whoever takes up arms against the state of Pakistan will be dealt with an iron fist,” he said. He also said that the war on terrorism is not only Pakistan’s fight but a common war.
Now the US and the UK have also raised questions about military courts in Pakistan
Fragile relations between Pakistan and the US
Pakistan and the US have a delicate and complex relationship, which has been shaped by shared security concerns and diverse strategic priorities.
During his talks in the US, Mohsin Naqvi also expressed the hope that the current presidency of President Donald Trump will bring new dimensions to the relations between the two countries.
Last Tuesday, Naqvi also attended a special dinner at Lincoln Liberty Hall in Washington, where he met with US senators, members of the House of Representatives and other important figures.

After this, the Pakistani interior minister also met with US Congressmen Thomas Richard Suzy and Jack Bergman, during which they discussed further strengthening Pakistan-US relations.
Denial of participation in anti-China event
While talking to reporters in Houston, Mohsin Naqvi also clarified that he did not attend any anti-China event during his current visit to the US.
He dismissed the impression created about his participation in a youth event as “toxic propaganda”.
US sanctions on Pakistani institutions, Islamabad’s response
It should be noted that his clarification came after various posts on social media and reports by a local media house as well as Indian media, which claimed that Mohsin Naqvi attended an event organized by a lobbying group that campaigns against the ruling Communist Party in China.
While answering questions from reporters in Houston, Mohsin Naqvi described these reports as “propaganda”. “Neither did I attend any such event nor did I attend any anti-China state function,” he insisted.
US should support Pakistani reforms instead of criticizing, Pakistan
However, the Pakistani interior minister admitted that he had attended an event organized by Gunster Strategies Worldwide, a public relations firm in the US, which is allegedly being linked to being “anti-China.”
“They can do as much propaganda as they want. It doesn’t matter. I didn’t attend any anti-China function,” Naqvi sarcastically said.
Pakistan has strong bilateral ties with China and Beijing has supported Islamabad through many investment and development projects, including the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, which has been called a “lifeline” for the Pakistani economy.
