ACCA's new report on global economy in 2025 released

Karachi (News / Pakistan Point News - NNI. 04 February 2025) The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCE) has released the second edition of its annual economic outlook report titled “Global Economic Outlook 2025: A World of Extreme Uncertainty”. The report analyzes the prospects and major risks for the global economy and key countries.


The report released by ACCA highlights the key events of 2025 and identifies three major trends. In addition, an exclusive interview with renowned economist Charles Goodhart and discussions with Chief Financial Officers (CFOs) around the world have also been included. In this report, renowned economist Charles Goodhart says that the global economy is currently going through a period of intense uncertainty.


According to him, there are opportunities for strong performance for the US economy in 2025, but Europe and the UK may face difficulties. In addition, India’s economic prospects He is generally optimistic about the outlook. Analyzing global inflation, Goodhart said that it may decline in the short term, but it could increase significantly in 2026 and 2027.

Commenting on artificial intelligence (AI), he says that while it is not the solution to all the problems of low productivity rates, it can be helpful in reducing inequality within countries. Speaking about the report, Jonathan Ashworth, chief economist at ACCA and author of the report, said: The pace of global economic growth in 2025 will remain reasonable, but it will not be a particularly rapid growth.

However, the world is still in a state of great uncertainty. The outlook is largely negative due to potential changes in US trade policies, geopolitical challenges, political instability, and rising government bond yields. The report identifies three major trends that are considered important to watch for the global economy in 2025.

These trends include the development of artificial intelligence (AI), increasing geopolitical fragmentation, and a further shift away from environmental policies. The report also includes the views of seven chief financial officers from different industries and regions around the world. According to these experts, a significant slowdown in the pace of global growth is not expected, but a cautious approach is needed in view of the severe global uncertainty.

A number of risks have been identified, including US trade policies, geopolitics, inflation, climate change, and cybersecurity. Artificial intelligence continues to be a priority, while businesses are recognizing both its capabilities and challenges. A common theme among CFOs was that in order to move forward in uncertain economic conditions, There is a great need for innovation and flexibility. Giving concluding remarks on the report, Jonathan Ashworth said, “This is a year full of uncertainty, so understanding the relationship between economics, politics, and technology is crucial for businesses and policymakers.”
