 Wednesday, February 12, 2025

Islamabad (News / Pakistan Point News - NNI. 12th February, 2025) The recent development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology has raised fears among people that their jobs are at risk. According to a media report, the head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) justified this fear and said that AI technology has hit the global labor market like a tsunami.

While addressing the World Governments Summit in Dubai, IMF Chief Kristalina Georgieva said that 60 percent of jobs in developed countries could be affected by the development of AI. She said that as a result of this technology, 60 percent of jobs in developed countries will change or there will be no need to hire people for them.

She said that we have analyzed that AI technology has hit the labor market like a tsunami and in a very short time, many people in developed countries may lose their jobs or, on the contrary, their productivity will increase significantly.

He said that 40 percent of jobs in developing countries and 26 percent in poor countries are at risk from AI technology. The IMF chief said that this technology will either make the world better or more divided. Earlier, in an IMF report in January 2024, Kristalina Georgieva predicted that 40 percent of jobs could be affected by AI.

At that time, he said that AI technology could affect 40 percent of jobs worldwide and it was important for governments to take steps for workers at risk. This analysis had said that 60 percent of jobs in developed countries such as the United States and the United Kingdom could be affected by AI technology, but the international organization said that AI technology could be helpful to humans in some areas.

According to the IMF, in some areas this technology can be helpful in human tasks, such as surgeons, lawyers or judges, but AI technology will eliminate the need for humans in telemarketing or other similar fields. However, the jobs of ordinary people doing everyday work are not at great risk from this technology.
