"Hybrid model is fine! Write it for Indian events too", PCB asks ICC for a written response in two words
Tuesday, December 10, 2024
New Delhi (News International Latest News - December 10, 2024) The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has sought a written assurance from the International Cricket Council (ICC) on the hybrid model of the Champions Trophy 2025.
Indian broadcaster ‘NDTV’ has quoted ‘Indo-Asian News Service’ as saying that the final announcement by the ICC regarding the Champions Trophy 2025 is expected on Wednesday.
Indian media has claimed that the PCB has allegedly sought a written assurance from the ICC on the hybrid model for future tournaments. This demand came at a time when the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) informed the ICC that the Indian team will not tour Pakistan as per the government’s policy.
It may be recalled that after the deadlock regarding the Champions Trophy, the PCB had agreed to accept the hybrid model for the Champions Trophy, in which India’s matches will be played in Dubai while the rest of the tournament will be played in Pakistan.
Apart from the group matches, under this model, India will also play the semi-finals and final matches in Dubai.
However, the PCB has demanded a written assurance from the ICC on the hybrid model for future international events held in India. According to sources, the decision regarding the Champions Trophy is expected by Wednesday. Earlier, even before the schedule of the Champions Trophy 2025 to be held in Pakistan, broadcasters released the promo of the event.
The promo of the Champions Trophy 2025 released by Star Sports on its YouTube channel has started with a video with the current and former captains of India (Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli).
