Muzaffarabad (News International / Pakistan News - NNI. 17th December, 2024) Pakistan Peoples Party Azad Kashmir Divisional Senior Vice President Khurshid Hussain Kayani has said that just as Karachi is the heart of Pakistan, Muzaffarabad is the capital of Azad Kashmir. The construction, development and renovation of which is the primary responsibility of the Azad Kashmir government. He said that today Muzaffarabad is facing such problems that have made the lives of the people a game of death.
Road excavations, cracks and deep potholes near Muzaffarabad and its vicinity, construction materials lying on the roads and improper parking are not only causing accidents but also taking the lives of people. Along with this, inflation has become so uncontrolled that the life of the common man has become a double torment.
Muzaffarabad city has become the center of countless tragic stories.
The ongoing development works and road excavation in the city have presented a scenario where hopes are being dashed and lives are being lost. Khurshid Hussain Kayani further said that the new system of construction of lorry depots and roads in different areas of the city has been excavated in such a reckless manner that the entire city has turned into a construction site. Due to potholes, open manholes and poor safety arrangements, ordinary citizens are losing their lives.
In the past months, several incidents have taken place in which young people, children and elderly people have lost their lives due to poor and unsafe roads. He said that these deaths are no less than a tragedy. This is the result of irresponsible behavior adopted in the supervision of these development works. Behind every accident is the broken world of a family. A mother's only son fell into a sewer and died, a daughter who dreamed of university became a victim of the poor road system, an old father who works day and night for the happiness of his children.
He was involved in an accident and left his family helpless. People who survive accidents are either seriously injured or disabled. The hospital expenses for their treatment are so high that it becomes impossible for a poor family to bear the expenses. He said that due to the lack of health cards in the state, common people are dying without treatment.
He has requested the authorities to appoint such officers in administrative positions who are trained as well as know the pulse of the people so that the affairs of Muzaffarabad city can be rectified. He further demanded that development projects be completed in phases and the entire city should not be excavated at once. An independent monitoring committee should be formed to check the speed, quality and safety measures of these projects.
Immediate financial assistance and psychological support should be provided to the families of those who died in the accident. He further demanded that the state should talk to the federation and arrange funds for health cards so that health cards can be issued in the state and people can avoid dying without dying.
