Search operations, seizure of properties continue in occupied Kashmir

India's illegal actions cannot change the disputed status of Kashmir, says Hurriyat Conference

Saturday 7 December 2024

Srinagar (News International / Pakistan News - NNI. 07 December 2024) In illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference has said that Kashmir is an internationally recognized dispute and its disputed status cannot be changed by India’s illegal actions. According to Kashmir Media Service, All Parties Hurriyat Conference spokesperson Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas in a statement issued in Srinagar said that lasting peace in South Asia is directly linked to the resolution of the Kashmir dispute.

He expressed regret over India’s continued use of force and refusal to meet the legitimate aspirations of the Kashmiri people, which is further increasing the difficulties and instability in the region. The All Parties Hurriyat Conference strongly condemned the targeting of Kashmiris through siege and search operations and house raids.

Advocate Minhas highlighted the injustices being done to Kashmiris who are being punished with confiscation of properties and dismissal from jobs simply for supporting the freedom movement.

He said that this is part of India’s broader strategy to wall off Kashmiris and displace them in their own homeland. Meanwhile, Indian troops have intensified cordon and search operations and house raids in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, targeting various areas of Srinagar, Baramulla, Kupwara, Bandipora, Islamabad, Kulgam, Shopian, Pulwama, Ramban, Udhampur, Rajouri, Poonch, Kathua and Samba districts.

These operations have raised concerns among the people as there are reports of harassment, intimidation and other atrocities against many Kashmiris. During the raids, dozens of people were questioned and asked to provide details of freedom fighters in their respective areas. The troops harassed the citizens and snatched their mobile phones, documents and personal belongings.

India is using these actions to collectively punish Kashmiris, causing severe hardship to the citizens in the occupied territory. Continuing its colonialist tactics to suppress Kashmiris, the occupying authorities have seized five more properties in Bijbehara area of Islamabad district on baseless allegations. These properties belong to Riaz Ahmed Dar, Muhammad Yousuf Reshi, Sabzar Ahmed Mir, Muhammad Shafi Dar and Abdul Hameed Chopan. Critics say that the seizure of properties has become a key tactic to target Kashmiris and thousands of properties have been seized since the illegal revocation of the special status of occupied Jammu and Kashmir in August 2019.
