Rawalakot (UrduPoint News International/ Pakistan Point News - NNI. 27th December, 2024) Principal Captain Hussain Khan Shaheed Government Postgraduate College Professor Dr. Yasir Arafat Abbasi has said that there is an urgent need to integrate our education with industry and practical life. Technical courses and freelancing programs should be introduced in educational institutions, so that students can be guided on the path of self-reliance through local resources.

The aim of education should not only make students employable but also make them responsible and honest citizens. The development of nations is conditional on visionary leadership and the promotion of creative talents in the education system. Postgraduate College Rawalakot is an exemplary institution, its good name will be further enhanced, cosmetics and other products can be produced locally by using the natural resources of Azad Kashmir, such as medicinal plants and flowers.

He is determined that he will continue his policies in Postgraduate College Rawalakot and provide the best opportunities to the students. We are mostly at the mercy of circumstances. We go where the circumstances take us. However, this should not be the case, but we should go in our field of interest. I believe that in our country, producers should be given more respect than army officers, doctors, engineers and bureaucrats.

He expressed these views at a special session organized by Azad Jammu and Kashmir Union of Columnists and Bazm Adab at the Postgraduate College Rawalakot, in which Principal Professor Dr. Yasir Arafat shed light on his life experiences and educational reforms. The interview panel included Madam Sidra Iram Kabir, Saqiba Khalid, Professor Ayaz Kayani, Professor Azhar Mahmood, Aamir Hayat, while the arrangement and editing was done by Professor Muhammad Ayaz Kayani.

He further said that writers, poets and writers have social and intellectual foundations and advance the foundations of these dreams on the basis of productive forces, industry and technology. Dr. Yasir Arafat started the conversation with his early life. He said that he was born in the area of Sohawa Sharif, Tehsil Dhirkot, which has a unique identity in terms of education and literature.

After receiving his early education from the village, he moved to Multan where he completed his F.Sc. from Islamia College Multan and B.Sc. from Government Science College. He obtained his M.Sc. degree in Chemistry from the University of Azad Kashmir in 1996. Describing his journey in the field of education, Dr. Yasir said that in 1997, he started his services as an ad hoc lecturer.

Later, after passing the Public Service Commission examination, he performed teaching duties in various colleges. He said that the famous educationist Professor Abdullah Khan Niazi played a key role in his development and higher education. He said that he completed his PhD from the Pakistan Institute of Nuclear Sciences through a scholarship provided for higher education by Dr. Atta-ur-Rehman.

The focus of his research activities was the mineral resources of Azad Kashmir, on which he worked prominently. Dr. Yasir, while mentioning his administrative services, said that as a principal, he played a significant role in the initiation and expansion of BS programs in various colleges. He said that despite limited resources, providing opportunities for higher education has been his priority, especially making education easy and accessible for women.

There is a dire need to integrate our education with industry and practical life. His efforts have been to introduce technical courses and freelancing programs in educational institutions, so that students can be guided on the path of self-reliance through local resources. Dr. Yasir Arafat emphasized that the development of nations is conditional on visionary leadership and the promotion of creative talents in the education system.

He said that the aim of education should not only be to make students employable but also to make them responsible and honest citizens. Finally, he said that cosmetics and other products can be produced locally by using the natural resources of Azad Kashmir, such as medicinal plants and flowers. He is determined that he will continue his policies in the Postgraduate College Rawalakot and provide the best opportunities to the students.

This interview is an important attempt to highlight the services of Dr. Yasir Arafat for educational and social development. We are mostly at the mercy of circumstances. We go in the direction that circumstances take us. However, this should not be the case, but we should go into the field of our interest. I believe that in our country, producers should be given more respect than army officers, doctors, engineers and bureaucrats.

Our syllabus does not design such activities as work. We can make this world a model of paradise even beyond the hereafter. There are many models of education in the world. One is the German system, where you don't get a degree until you actually do something. The other is the British system, where education itself has become an industry.

Unfortunately, we do not have any clear objectives regarding education. Our curriculum does not include making an individual a responsible citizen of the society. Our targets are short-sighted. Along with doctors, engineers, army officers, etc., our child should become the best citizen of the country and an honest person. This probably does not exist anywhere in our objectives. My intention and effort has always been to take such steps as much as possible so that the children here benefit. If our system is fixed, our people will not need to sift the dust of the whole world for employment. The question arises that our people go all over the world and work hard. They create inventions because the environment there not only gives them protection and respect, but unfortunately we are not able to provide that environment to the skilled. Brain drain is happening in our country. This needs to be thought, understood and acted upon at the national level. Our people go all over the world and do business and politics, but here people do not get opportunities according to their abilities. May God grant that the people of this country have the same environment and opportunities as they do in developed countries, so that new chapters of development and progress can be opened here too. May God Almighty be our supporter and helper.
