Srinagar (news / Pakistan Point News - 29th January, 2025) In illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Indian troops continued large-scale cordon and search operations and harassed people for the second consecutive day on Wednesday in several areas of Jammu region and Kashmir Valley. According to Kashmir Media Service, Indian Army, paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force and police personnel carried out operations against peaceful freedom fighters in Kishtwar, Doda, Ramban, Rajouri, Poonch, Udhampur, Reasi and various areas of Jammu.
The troops conducted raids under the black law of prevention of illegal activities at 25 places in Rajouri alone. These raids are being carried out to suppress the voice of Kashmiris and their ongoing freedom struggle.
The black law UAPA has long been used as a weapon to target political activists, journalists and ordinary citizens, under which the occupying authorities have the power to arrest people without any evidence or trial.
The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has strongly condemned India for accelerating the implementation of the colonial agenda in Jammu and Kashmir. Hurriyat Conference spokesperson Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas said in a statement issued in Srinagar that India’s forced occupation of Kashmir, which began with the attack on Srinagar in 1947, has led to continuous exploitation and atrocities of the local population. He said that under Indian measures, not only is the population ratio in Jammu and Kashmir being changed by settling non-Kashmiri Hindus, but the local population is also being economically weakened and the natural resources of the region are being exploited.
Meanwhile, doctors treating a mysterious illness in Budhal area of Rajouri have confirmed that the use of toxic substances is the cause of 17 deaths since December 7. He said that all the patients undergoing treatment with the anti-venom drug 'Atropine' have fully recovered, which reinforces this position. Locals have suspected that the Indian army is poisoning the water to target freedom fighters in the area.
Daily wagers of the wildlife department in Jammu and Kashmir staged a protest in Srinagar demanding regularisation of their jobs, reflecting the growing anger against the anti-people policies of the Modi government. The protesters shouted slogans against the government's inaction and said that they have been serving the department for years without job security or adequate wages. They warned that they would intensify their protest if their demands were not met.
