January 03, 2025) Irfan Sharif, the father of 10-year-old British girl Sarah Sharif, who was serving a life sentence for the murder of her Pakistani-origin daughter, was attacked in a British prison. Irfan Sharif was seriously injured in the attack. Fellow prisoners attacked Sarah Sharif’s father with a sharp instrument in Belmarsh Prison in south London. According to British media reports, two people attacked Irfan Sharif as part of a plan.
Irfan Sharif was attacked with a weapon made of cans, which caused serious injuries to Irfan Sharif’s neck and face. Sarah Sharif’s father survived the attack, but he is in intensive care. Despite the brutal attack, Irfan Sharif did not suffer life-threatening injuries. Sources say he is lucky to have survived.
He had to get stitches and his wounds will remain a permanent sign of the attack.
43-year-old Irfan Sharif was ambushed in his cell in Belmarsh Prison in south London on New Year’s Day. The attack comes just weeks after Irfan Sharif was sentenced to life in prison, with a minimum sentence of 40 years for the murder of his 10-year-old daughter. The Prison Service said: “Police are investigating an attack on a prisoner at Belmarsh Prison on January 1 and it would be inappropriate to comment while the investigation is ongoing.” A police spokesman also said authorities were investigating an allegation that a prisoner was attacked at Belmarsh. He added that the 43-year-old prisoner had non-life-threatening injuries. It should be noted that a British court sentenced Irfan Sharif to at least 40 years in prison, while Sarah Sharif’s stepmother, Benish Batool, was sentenced to at least 33 years. Last month, her father Irfan Sharif, stepmother Benish Batool, 30, and uncle Faisal Malik, 29, were sentenced in the murder case of 10-year-old Sarah.
Sarah’s body was found by police in her bed on August 10, 2023. The post-mortem report revealed 25 fractures and 71 external injuries on the girl’s body, including six human bite marks and burn marks from an iron. The court was told that Sarah had been placed in the custody of her taxi driver father Irfan Sharif for four years before she was brutally murdered, despite allegations of abuse against him.
Prosecuting lawyer William Emlyn Jones KC said that Irfan Sharif had adopted a ‘culture of violent discipline’ in which attacks on Sarah had become routine. Police found Sarah’s body on August 10, 2023, after her father called the operator and told the operator, “I have killed my daughter, I have given her the legal punishment and she is dead.” Following the sentencing last month, Sarah’s mother Olga said that all three should die in prison.
"I still can't believe what was happening," he said. "There's no way a human being could do this to their own child. They deserve what they did." Sentencing, Justice Kavanaugh said that Sarah was treated as if she were useless, and that her father and stepmother didn't care. The judge said that among the siblings, only Sarah was abused because she was a girl and not Batul's biological daughter.
