Opening ceremony of the 7th International Conference on Energy, Environment and Sustainable Development held at Mehran University

Muzaffarabad (News International/ Pakistan Point News - APP - 28th November, 2024) A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Commissioner Muzaffarabad Division Masood-ur-Rehman regarding the computerization of land records through Land Records Management and Information System (LRMIS). The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioners Neelum, Jhelum Valley and Muzaffarabad, as well as Information Technology officers and other relevant staff.


In the meeting, Commissioner Muzaffarabad Division sought details of ongoing and completed computerization projects and directed to shed light on the issues faced so that the future course of action can be improved. Information Technology officials informed the meeting that the digital transfer of records is being done under the Land Revenue Act, 1967, according to which the preparation of traditional land records has now been prohibited and in future all land records will be possible only under LRMIS.


During the briefing, it was informed that digital service centers are functional at the district headquarters of all three districts of Muzaffarabad division. Out of 279 villages in Muzaffarabad district, computerization of 69 has been completed while the remaining 210 villages are in the final stages. The records of 19 out of 22 villages in Leepa have been completed and the remaining three will be completed soon. In Tehsil Aathmaqam, the records of 30 out of 62 villages have been digitized while the completion of the remaining villages is also expected soon.

Information technology officials said that Phase II will be completed by June 2025, service centers are being established under Phase III, however, there is a delay due to unavailability of space at some places. The Commissioner directed that the Deputy Commissioners should immediately arrange suitable places so that the project can be completed on time. The meeting also discussed the ongoing “State Property Project” under Land Use Planning and its sub-projects.

Officials said that the work of geo-tagging and integration of digitized data is in progress, to complete these areas, it is necessary that the details of those areas where arrangements have not been made, be provided soon. Commissioner Muzaffarabad, expressing satisfaction over the briefing, directed the officials of the Revenue Department to fully cooperate with the Information Technology officers so that there is no further delay in the computerization process.

He stressed that the establishment of service centers in Sharda and Patka should be completed in the first decade of December. During the meeting, the Commissioner also informed that the computerization of domicile and Pashtani records has been completed. He directed the Deputy Commissioners to make full preparations for the review meeting to be held in the second decade of December so that the progress can be reviewed and the future course of action can be decided.

At the end of the meeting, the Commissioner said that the computerization of land records will not only bring transparency and speed in land matters but will also reduce the difficulties faced by the public. He directed all the concerned officers to work under a coordinated strategy to complete the project at the earliest and send progress reports to the Commissioner's Office from time to time. This meeting was an important link in the commitment to modernize land records, which is expected to directly benefit the people of Azad Kashmir.
