Thursday, November 28, 2024
Islamabad (News International New - 28th November, 2024) The Islamabad High Court Bar Association has demanded a judicial inquiry into the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protests and use of force on civilians. Earlier, the Supreme Court Bar Association had demanded the resignation of Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.
It should be noted that on November 24, PTI supporters led by the founder’s wife Bushra Bibi and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur started a march from Peshawar to Islamabad to release Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) founding chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan. They reached near Islamabad on the night of November 25. However, the next day, after entering Islamabad, several people, police and law enforcement officials were injured in a clash between PTI supporters and police and law enforcement agencies.
On the night of November 26, Bushra Bibi, Ali Amin Gandapur and Omar Ayub left the march participants and went to Mansehra via Haripur. The march participants also returned to their homes. On Wednesday, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and PTI General Secretary Salman Akram Raja, in addition to Sardar Latif Khosa, claimed that several people were killed in the alleged firing by security forces. However, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar rejected these claims and said that if something like this happened, where is the evidence?
According to a private TV, a statement issued by the President of the Islamabad High Court Bar Association, Riyat Ali Azad, said that the use of force on civilians at D-Chowk is a serious violation of human, political and social rights, which we strongly condemn. Immediate action should be taken against the authorities involved in the use of force. The Islamabad High Court Bar Association's statement also demanded that the Supreme Court take suo motu notice of the incident. The statement said that those involved in the incident should resign.
