Government puts security on high alert in Islamabad and Rawalpindi in view of protests

Islamabad/Lahore (News International/ Pakistan New - 24th November, 2024) Due to the protest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, the federal capital Islamabad and Punjab province have been completely closed from many places. According to the details, in view of the PTI protest, the government has closed the routes to Islamabad. For this purpose, containers have been erected on most of the routes leading to the federal capital, No. 26 Chungi has been completely sealed with containers and Rangers have been deployed, the Srinagar Highway has been closed at the zero point, the expressway is also closed from both sides at the Khanna bridge.
It has been reported that containers have also been erected on the route leading to the airport, the route from Faizabad to Islamabad is also closed, the main connecting bridge of the twin cities, Faizabad Interchange, has been closed for all types of traffic, the Islamabad Expressway and IGP Road have been closed at different places, the Murree Road has been closed from different points from Faizabad to Saddar.
It has been learned that in view of the PTI protest, security is on high alert in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, 6,000 police personnel and officers have been deployed, 2,000 police personnel are ready for backup, 135 points and checkpoints have been set up to prevent entry into Islamabad from Rawalpindi, modern equipment has been provided to the elite force, police personnel have been stopped from using mobile phones, the speed of the internet has also been slowed down and the metro bus service has been stopped until further notice.
In addition, 70 places connecting Rawalpindi and Islamabad will be monitored with CCTV cameras, tear gas shells and guns have been provided to the police, police officials have said that no protest, demonstration or rally will be allowed, there are instructions to deal strictly with those who disturb the peace, the law will come into play for violation of Section 144.
It is being told that the Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metro bus service is suspended, the Green Line service from PIMS to Bara Kahu has also been stopped, similarly, internet and mobile phone services are also affected in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, in this regard, the Ministry of Interior says that the closure of mobile data, Wi-Fi service will be determined in areas of security concerns. In addition, all routes from Lahore and Faisalabad to the federal capital have been closed, all connection roads have been closed by installing containers, motorways leading to other cities from Lahore have been closed, Babu Sabu has been closed by installing containers and barriers and a heavy police force has been deployed, the road leading to Shahdara and Bati Chowk has been closed from both sides, containers are present on the Azadi Flyover.
It has further been learned that the Lahore-Islamabad motorway is also closed, all bus stands on the closed road have been closed, Lahore Ring Road is completely closed for traffic from all intersections, Ravi Bridge, Old Ravi Bridge, Sagian Ravi Bridge, Eastern Bypass and Babusabu have been completely closed, while traffic within Lahore city is flowing as usual. Similarly, Section 144 has been imposed in Punjab for 3 days, due to which all kinds of protests, meetings, processions, rallies and sit-ins have been banned, bus stands in the provincial capital Lahore have also been closed, due to the closure of the route, the rush of passengers at the railway station has increased, in view of the rush, the railway administration has also run additional trains from Lahore to Rawalpindi.
