Opening ceremony of the 7th International Conference on Energy, Environment and Sustainable Development held at Mehran University

Islamabad (News International / Pakistan New - 25th November, 2024) The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf protest has entered its second day and convoys coming from different areas are continuing their journey towards Islamabad. The protest convoys led by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and Opposition Leader Omar Ayub have entered the boundaries of Punjab. According to details, convoys from Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa left for Islamabad for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf protest. When the large PTI convoy headed by Ali Amin Gandapur from Swabi entered the boundaries of Punjab, the police shelled Attock Bridge, Chhich Interchange and Ghazi Barotha Canal. After the convoy entered the boundaries of Punjab, the PTI changed its strategy and directed the Hazara Division convoys reaching Taxila to return to the Burhan Motorway Rest Area via GT Road and join Ali Amin Gandapur’s convoy.


It has been reported that when the convoy led by the opposition leader in the National Assembly, Omar Ayub, reached Taxila, the police fired on the convoy at the check post, but the police retreated after the PTI workers advanced. The large convoy led by Omar Ayub from Hazara Haripur crossed the police barrier at Gango Bahtar and entered Punjab. Another PTI convoy led by Taimur Masood from Taxila joined Omar Ayub's convoy. It has been learned that PTI Chief Whip Aamir Dogar and leader Zain Qureshi were arrested by Punjab Police. Both leaders were taken into custody from Qadirpuran Toll Plaza, Multan. Rawalpindi Police arrested candidate NA-52 Colonel Ajmal Sabir Raja and MPA PP-11. 75 workers have been arrested from Faisalabad. 20 vehicles were also seized, including 16 cars and 4 coasters. The police dispersed a group of people who had reached near Faizabad Interchange. Seeing the police approaching them, the workers who had gathered went towards Sohan. The federal police also shelled near Faizabad Bridge to disperse the workers. It is being told that in view of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf protest, all educational institutions in Islamabad and Rawalpindi are closed today. The decision to keep educational institutions closed was taken in view of the current situation, which has been applied to all educational institutions in the federal capital and Rawalpindi. Similarly, all educational institutions in Murree district are also closed today. It was decided to keep educational institutions closed in view of the current situation.
