14,000 American youth visited China for public exchanges, Chinese ambassador says

 A new chapter has been opened in the friendship between the peoples of China and the United States, Xi Jinping said.

New York (News International/ Pakistan News - NNI. 08 December 2024) Chinese Ambassador to the United States Xie Feng said that since China launched the “Fifty Thousand in Five Years” program, 14,000 American youth have come to China for public exchanges. Xie Feng released the figures at the China-US Youth Public Exchange Activity organized by the Chinese Embassy in the United States on Sunday.

He said that through this program, American youth have come to China for exchange and study, which has established an effective platform for young people from both countries to get to know each other, opened a window to know China, and opened a new chapter in the friendship between the people of China and the United States. Xie Feng said that in the past few years, there have been obstacles in the way of people-to-people and cultural exchanges between young people of China and the United States.

Nevertheless, many good news have emerged from the joint efforts of the two sides. We should jointly push forward people-to-people exchanges between the two countries by overcoming obstacles. It is hoped that the young people of the two countries will shoulder their responsibilities for the stable, healthy and sustainable development of China-US relations, correctly understand China-US relations, promote exchanges and cooperation, and make contributions to the common prosperity of China-US relations.

More than 300 people, including representatives of American teachers and students who came to China for people-to-people exchanges this year, and friendly people from all walks of life in China and the United States, attended the activity on December 6. The participants discussed the topics of "My Experience in China-US Youth Exchange" and "The 'Fifty Thousand in Five Years' Program and the Future of China-US People-to-People Exchange," and expressed their best wishes that China-US educational exchanges and cooperation will be further deepened and will benefit not only China and the United States but also the world.
