I fear the government will try to sideline our demand for an investigation into May 9 and November 26, but we will not let that happen; Statement by Founding Chairman PTI

Rawalpindi (UrduPoint News International / Pakistan Point News - 25th December, 2024) Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founding chairman Imran Khan has demanded a meeting with the negotiation team to understand the issues. In a statement, he said that the efforts of the party’s negotiation committee are a good thing. To make the negotiation process meaningful, it is important that I meet with my nominated negotiation team so that I can have a proper understanding of the issues. I have nominated Sahibzada Hamid Raza as the spokesperson for the PTI’s negotiation process. If the government wants fruitful negotiations, we have two demands. Imran Khan said that the first demand is that the undertrial political prisoners be released and the second is that a judicial commission consisting of senior judges be established on the incidents of May 9 and November 26. If these two demands are implemented, we will postpone the civil disobedience movement. However, I fear that the government will try to put our demand for an investigation of May 9 and November 26 behind us, but we will not let that happen.
The statement said that I reject the unconstitutional decisions of the military courts. Due to these decisions, Pakistan is being defamed in the international world and such inhumane acts may even lead to economic sanctions for the country. Now the judiciary has also admitted that political engineering is taking place in the country, which clearly means that the PTI is being crushed and by suppressing the PTI, in reality, the funeral of democracy, independence of the judiciary and the rule of law has been carried out.
He said in the statement that no country can develop without foreign and domestic investment and investment can never come without the rule of law. People are transferring capital out of Pakistan because neither the judiciary is independent nor there is any respect for the law. After the 26th Constitutional Amendment, the judiciary has been completely crippled. The establishment of the Constitutional Bench and its decisions are tantamount to embarrassing the Supreme Court.
