Pakistani citizen sentenced to death in Saudi Arabia

Makkah (News International / Pakistan News - 07th December, 2024) A Pakistani citizen has been sentenced to death in Saudi Arabia. According to Saudi media, the Ministry of Interior issued a statement regarding the execution of the death penalty against a criminal in the Makkah region, in which it was stated that a Pakistani citizen, Akhtar Munir Zaheer, was arrested by security authorities. As a result of the investigation, he was accused of drug smuggling and sent to the competent court.


It was reported that upon being found guilty, an order was issued against him in which he was sentenced to death. The accused appealed against it, however, the Supreme Court upheld the sentence, after which a royal decree was issued to implement the decision and the death sentence of the criminal, Akhtar Munir Zaheer, was carried out.


The Ministry of Interior says that the Saudi government is protecting the security of citizens and residents from the scourge of drugs and is imposing the strictest punishments in accordance with the law against drug smugglers and dealers, as drugs have led to the loss of innocent lives, serious corruption in society, and violations of individual rights. Whoever does this will face legal punishment.


A few days ago, two Pakistanis were sentenced to death in Saudi Arabia for separate crimes of murder and heroin smuggling. A Pakistani citizen, Ali Akbar Noor Ahmed, hit Saud bin Ali bin Bakhit Al-Shaibani on the head with a sharp object due to a dispute between them and then ran over him with a car, resulting in his death. After the incident, security officials were able to arrest the man and as a result of his investigation, he was found guilty of committing the crime and sent to the competent court.


The court ordered that the accused be killed as revenge for the crime attributed to him. The Pakistani citizen appealed against the decision, but the Supreme Court also upheld the death sentence. A royal decree was issued to implement it, after which the criminal, Ali Akbar Noor Ahmed, was sentenced to death on Tuesday in the Makkah region under a verdict pronounced according to Sharia law.
