A seminar was organized by the Khawaja Rafique Shaheed Foundation on the topic of “Pakistan in Crisis, How to Improve the Situation” in connection with the 52nd annual death anniversary of Khawaja Rafique Shaheed. Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said that after the martyrdom of Khawaja Rafique, his wife raised her two sons Khawaja Saad and Khawaja Salman in an unparalleled manner. Nowadays, the country is in a very bad state of terrorism. Everyone knows about the support given to terrorists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Billions were spent in Operation Zarb-e-Azb and Radd-ul-Fasaad and thousands of sacrifices were made. Pakistan is fighting against terrorism. Before this, mothers were afraid to send their children to school, fearing that there would be an explosion. Shouldn’t we question how terrorism returned to the country? I was given the title of Havaldar, but I am proud of this title and of these Havaldars and soldiers who sacrifice their lives to protect us. He said that we avoid mentioning May 9, that day there was no protest anywhere except at military installations, only an attempt was made to weaken Pakistan which even our enemy could not do before, didn’t those people who haven’t come to Pakistan for years post, did they ever post on the atrocities in Gaza, people should boycott them, weren’t military courts formed in the past.
He said that I understand that bitterness has its place but we must talk, those who refused to talk for 4 years and now want to talk, so I conveyed the message to the government, my role is very limited while the negotiations are to be done by a high-level committee, I pay tribute to the government which made positive progress. He said that Khawaja Asif was handcuffed in 2002 and he was barely allowed to operate, Rana Sanaullah was not given medicines.
If the opposition members were arrested, their production orders could not have been issued if the government did not want them, but our members did not get their right. He said that since March, instead of a full discussion on the problems of the people, there has been a boycott in the assembly. Whenever the Law Minister presented any bill in the house, the opposition did not talk about it despite being invited. There is no restriction on the opposition from speaking in the assembly.
He said that Khawaja Saad Rafique has a big role in political negotiations and he has been talking about this for years. You should talk about your problems but also talk about the problems of the people. He said that Shahbaz Sharif had said the same years ago that an economic pact should be made. Advisor to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah Khan said that a bold and brave political activist like Khawaja Rafique Shaheed was martyred at the behest of the then ruling party. He was martyred because his words were displeasing to the rulers. Now it is becoming a national attitude that we do not tolerate anything that does not match our point of view. Can a voice be silenced when an attempt has been made to silence it by force? Khawaja Saad Rafique is speaking with the same courage and bravery as Khawaja Rafique Shaheed used to.
He said that there is no doubt that crises occur in every country, but crises in Pakistan have reached such an extent that Pakistan itself looks like a crisis. The Shahbaz government and the PML-N deserve congratulations for averting default. He said that reducing the prices of petroleum products 10 days before the no-confidence motion was a very important step towards defaulting the country.
He said that negotiations must take place, but before sitting at the negotiating table, one should admit one's mistakes and shortcomings. After the 1973 Constitution, the Charter of Democracy is a sacred document. Before the Charter of Democracy, the (N) League and the PPP admitted their mistakes. He said that it is being said that false cases were made against the PTI, the cases were also false against us. If you want to accept your truth today, then accept our truth yesterday as well. At least express regret. If I have a wrong mandate today, then you also had a wrong mandate yesterday, so why didn't you leave? Khawaja Saad Rafique said that that is why I am not a part of the government and my colleagues know this, I am completely within my party, but where there is a problem, now we cannot remain silent, we will have to talk about it, we will have to question it, we will have to find a way out. He said that Pakistan is a unique country in the world where the future of the government is always under discussion. Now the question of the future of the country has started to arise. Political battles have weakened the country and the economy to the utmost. Today, there is only one way out that everyone must decide. The practice of raiding Islamabad must end. He said that the sit-ins have retired today. When the sit-in took place in 2014, we opposed it. In Pakistan, the government should come and go through votes, otherwise we will continue to suffer from crises. Bangladesh is suffering today. It is looking at us with love today and we have to respond to it with love. Senior journalist Sohail Warraich said that Khawaja Saad Rafique was right when he said that Pakistan, democracy and the constitution are important. Democracy can only move forward by following the constitution. It is written in the constitution that parliament can make constitutions and laws. We are very fond of saying that there is a crisis in the country and we have to get out of these crises through the constitution and parliament. He said that there are good qualities in political parties, but there is also hatred for each other, which is a record in the path of reconciliation. Today, one is a supporter of the army and the other is an opponent. The Pakistan Muslim League (N) and the PPP did not say anything to each other, but then they apologized to each other and 10 years passed. Today, the same is the case with PTI. He said that everyone from General Pasha to General Faiz, the then rulers, used to say that the PML-N and the PPP should be abolished and a single party should be brought forward. Media houses were closed but no one supported anyone. There should be an understanding but the basic things should be decided, for example, one's power will not be snatched away from the other. There will be no interest above the points of the constitution. If someone tampers with the constitution, everyone will come together. If this is not decided, then full power and authority will never be given. Resolutions were also passed in the seminar on Kashmir, Palestine and other issues.
