Opening ceremony of the 7th International Conference on Energy, Environment and Sustainable Development held at Mehran University

Islamabad (UrduPoint News international - 23 December 2024) The first round of negotiations between the government and the opposition has ended. In the next meeting, a charter of demands was requested from the opposition. The negotiation committee agreed to continue the negotiations. The next meeting of the negotiation committees will be held on January 2. The opposition will present a list of demands in the next meeting. The first in-camera meeting of the negotiation committee, chaired by Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, began with prayers for the success of the negotiations.


Government and opposition members arrived in Committee Room 5 for negotiations. 7 members of the government and 3 members of the PTI participated in the negotiation committee meeting. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Irfan Siddiqui, Rana Sanaullah, Naveed Qamar, Raja Pervez Ashraf and Farooq Sattar joined the negotiations from the government alliance.


Chaudhry Salik Hussain could not attend, while Asad Qaiser, the representative of the opposition, accompanied him in the meeting. Hamid Raza, Allama Nasir Abbas were part of the negotiation committee.


Opposition members Omar Ayub, Ali Amin Gandapur, Hamid Khan and Salman Akram Raja could not attend the meeting. Addressing the meeting, Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq welcomed the members of the government and opposition negotiation committee for attending the meeting. He said that the process of negotiations between the government and the opposition is a good omen. The country’s economic development is dependent on political stability, and the current situation of the country requires promoting political harmony.

This country is ours and the people elected us and sent us to solve their problems. Parliament is an elected body of 240 million people and the people have high hopes for the parliament. As public representatives, we have to find solutions to the problems of the people. The country’s problems can be solved amicably with cordial relations between the government and the opposition. Speaking during the meeting, Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq further said that Barrister Gohar asked to play a role in the negotiations, on which I requested Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. I am grateful to all the gentlemen that a committee was formed for the negotiations.

The seriousness of the talks is evident from the presence of senior members. Hopefully, they will talk about the betterment of Pakistan. The solution to every problem is in talks. Ayaz Sadiq said that we have adopted a democratic approach. We will hold meetings in the future with consultation. I pray to Allah that the outcome is what is best for Pakistan, democracy and us.
