Kuwait City (News International / Pakistan Point News - NNI. 02 December 2024) The Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), held in Kuwait, has called for an immediate end to war crimes in Gaza, displacement of Palestinians and the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories. According to Arab TV, the joint statement praised the GCC’s role in addressing regional, global political, security and economic challenges.

The statement urged member states to intensify efforts to enhance the region’s status as a global hub for business and economy, while pursuing sustainable economic diversification, digital transformation, energy market stability and climate action. The GCC Supreme Council condemned the ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza, Lebanon and the West Bank, as well as violations at occupied Jerusalem, Islamic and Christian holy sites.


They called for immediate intervention to protect civilians, end the war, and secure negotiations on a lasting solution. The statement praised Qatar's efforts for a ceasefire and prisoner exchange in Gaza, while welcoming Saudi Arabia and Oman's efforts to restore the political process in Yemen. Earlier, in his address to the inaugural session of the Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and condemned the Israeli occupation of Palestine. He urged the international community to play its role in implementing the Security Council resolutions regarding Gaza. The Emir of Kuwait said that civilians in Gaza must be protected and provided with assistance. He said that we reiterate our unwavering support for Palestine. We reiterate the end of the occupation, the achievement of all political rights, and the establishment of an independent state with occupied Jerusalem as its capital in accordance with international resolutions. We appreciate the mediation efforts of Qatar, Egypt and the United States to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza and welcome the ceasefire in Lebanon as a step towards de-escalation.

The Emir of Qatar reiterated his support for a two-state solution to the Palestinian issue and supported Saudi efforts to push for a two-state solution. The GCC meeting was attended by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Bahraini Crown Prince and Prime Minister Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, UAE Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and Omani Deputy Prime Minister for the Cabinet Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Saeed. The GCC Supreme Council meeting aimed to highlight the importance of collective action among the countries of the region.
