Ukraine launches major military offensive on Russian region of Kursk

Islamabad (UrduPoint News International/ Pakistan Point News - 15th Jan, 2025 ) According to reports received from Kyiv on Sunday, January 5, the Ukrainian government has announced that its armed forces have launched attacks on Moscow’s forces from several directions in the Kursk region of western Russia.

“Russia is being given back what it deserves in the Kursk region,” Andriy Yermak, the chief of staff of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, wrote on the social media platform Telegram, “What has happened in Putin’s twenty-five years?”


According to Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Combating Disinformation of the National Security and Defense Council in Ukraine, who answers directly to President Zelensky, this new military operation and advance of the Kyiv armed forces in Kursk has surprised the Russian troops.


The Ukrainian army’s high command itself has not said anything about this new military operation in Kursk.


The main target is the road to Kursk

According to Ukrainian government sources, the main target of this new military advance is the road to the Russian region of Kursk, which Ukrainian troops want to take over.
