Indian troops conduct cordon and search operations in various districts

Srinagar (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th February, 2025) Kashmiris living on both sides of the Line of Control, Pakistan and around the world paid rich tributes to prominent Kashmiri leader Muhammad Maqbool Butt on his 41st martyrdom anniversary today. According to Kashmir Media Service, the Indian government had hanged Muhammad Maqbool Butt in Tihar Jail, New Delhi, on this day in 1984 for playing a significant role in the struggle of Kashmiris for their right to self-determination and buried his body within the prison premises.


All Parties Hurriyat Conference spokesperson Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas said in a statement issued in Srinagar that Maqbool Butt is a symbol of the freedom struggle of Kashmiris. He reiterated his resolve to continue Maqbool Butt’s mission until the Kashmiris achieve their inalienable right to self-determination.


Illegally detained All Parties Hurriyat Conference leader Maulvi Bashir Irfani, in a message from jail, demanded the handing over of Maqbool Butt’s body to the Kashmiris.


A rally was taken out in Muzaffarabad on the occasion of the martyrdom anniversary of Muhammad Maqbool Butt. The participants of the rally warned of the dire consequences of further delay in resolving the Kashmir dispute. The rally, organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party, demanded the immediate release of illegally detained Hurriyat leaders. Speakers at an event held in Islamabad in connection with the 10 million Kashmir emails campaign urged the international community to hold India accountable for not fulfilling its UN obligations regarding Kashmir.


A conference was organized in Brussels by the Kashmir Council of Europe on the martyrdom anniversary of Maqbool Butt. Meanwhile, Indian troops have intensified cordon and search operations in Pulwama, Kupwara, Rajouri, Poonch, Doda and Kishtwar districts, which has spread severe fear and panic among the local people. The participants called Modi a murderer of Muslims and raised slogans against India. The protesters expressed solidarity with the oppressed Kashmiris. Jailed Kashmiri MP Engineer Rashid, while addressing the Indian Parliament, raised the issue of recent civilian casualties in Baramulla and Kathua. He questioned the role of Indian forces in the occupied territory and said that the blood of Kashmiris is not cheap.
