The February 8 election was stolen and unelected people are sitting in the government. New elections should be held to establish an elected government according to public opinion, says former Finance Minister Miftah Ismail
Islamabad (News - IPA - 05 February 2025) Former Finance Minister Miftah Ismail has said that there is a consensus among the opposition parties for the rule of law in the country, the February 8 election was stolen and unelected people are sitting in the government. Speaking on the ARY News program, he said that I cannot give any advice to the government on what they should worry about and what they should not, but everyone agreed in the opposition meeting yesterday that the rule of law should be based on the constitution, the February 8 election was a stolen election and unelected people are sitting in the government, so go for new elections and establish an elected government according to the opinion of the people, no one can raise any objection to this.
He said that the task of the opposition parties should not be to overturn or change the system, we should only think that we want new elections, if we first differentiate between the current system and the imposed government and then think that we want new elections and a government elected according to public opinion, then it becomes easy, that we are only asking for a government according to the wishes of the people, things change with time, there was a time when Imran Khan used to praise Bajwa, then Mir Jafar and Mir Sadiq started saying.
If the opposition works seriously, then it is not so difficult to remove a government that has no moral justification and hold new elections. It may be recalled that yesterday, the Grand Opposition Alliance demanded the resignation of the government and hold new elections, saying that the current government was forcibly imposed on the people, this party has no right to remain in power any longer, the Election Commission should resign.
According to the details, important progress has been made in the meeting of opposition leaders held at the residence of former Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser. After the meeting, a joint statement was issued by the opposition leaders, during the announcement, Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Shahid Khaqan Abbasi made important announcements.
